The latest injury news and possible return dates from Leicester City as the Foxes prepare for a number of tough-looking festive fixtures.
The hectic festive period will provide some sizeable challenges for Leicester City as they look to preserve their Premier League status under new head coach Ruud van Nistelrooy.
After taking four points from home games with West Ham United and Brighton and Hove Albion during his first week in charge, the former Manchester United striker will oversee his first away game in charge of the Foxes when they visit Newcastle United this weekend.
A crucial home game with fellow strugglers Wolverhampton Wanderers takes Leicester into Christmas week when they travel to current Premier League leaders Liverpool before rounding off their 2024 fixtures with a home clash against Manchester City.
With such a busy schedule lying in wait over the next fortnight, Van Nistelrooy will hope for some positive news on the injury front as a number of his players close on a return to full fitness. Ahead of their weekend trip to St. James’ Park, we take a look at the latest injury updates and possible return dates from around the Leicester squad.
Wilfried Ndidi
There is an air of the unknown over when the powerful midfielder could return to action after he picked up an injury in the weekend draw with Brighton and Hove Albion. Speaking after the game, Van Nistelrooy said: “Wilf, when he comes off, you know there’s a problem. I hope it’s minor. He felt a slight strain in the hamstring. Hopefully, it’s not too much. We’ll see how quickly we can get him back.” Predicted return date: Unknown.
Ricardo Pereira
The Portuguese wing-back has made just two appearances in the Premier League so far this season as a hamstring injury has left him on the sidelines since a 1-1 draw with Ipswich Town on the first weekend of last month. A return is not expected to come until the new year - but there is no set date yet in place. Predicted return date: Unknown.

A groin injury has ruled Winks out of Leicester’s last three Premier League games and Van Nistelrooy confirmed the midfielder had not returned to training ahead of the weekend draw with Brighton. There is some hope he could return for Saturday’s visit to Newcastle United. Predicted return date: Mid-December.
Issa Fatawu
The talented winger will miss the remainder of the season after he suffered a serious knee injury playing for Ghana against Angola during last month’s international break. Speaking prior to his departure from Leicester, former Foxes boss Steve Cooper said: “He's had a serious injury, ACL, that is going to rule him out for the rest of the season. We have to support him now in every way in making his rehab and his return as smooth and productive as possible.” Predicted return date: August 2025.
The goalkeeper still has no return date from an ankle injury he suffered in October and will hope to make progress with his recovery over the coming weeks. Predicted return date: Unknown.
