Silver Minings: More high-end talent needed

We all know the Las Vegas Raiders’ recent history of success (well, the lack thereof) of selecting in the first round.

Yes, the Silver and Black scored big time when they took tight end Brock Bowers with the No. 13 overall pick in 2024. But, overall the success rate has been low.

The result is that the Raiders have among the fewest first-round picks on their current 53-mqn rosters or on the injured reserve. The Raiders have six former first-round picks currently in the program. It’s tied for the 27th fewest in the league according to this recent tweet by Nick Korte:

> Teams with the most players picked in the 1st round:1. NYJ: 14T-2. PHI/LAC: 13T-4. MIN/JAX/BAL/CLE: 12T-8. PIT/GB/DET/ATL/HOU: 11Fewest:32. LAR: 231. NE: 430. DEN: 5T-27: LV/TEN/CIN: 6

Of the six, three are Raiders’ first rounders: Tackle Kolton Miller (2018), defensive end Tyree Wilson (2023) and Bowers. They have three former first-round picks of other teams: Tackle Andrus Peat (New Orleans, 2015), K’Lavon Chaisson (Jacksonville, 2020) and injured defensive tackle Christian Wilkins (Miami, 2019).

So, they need to continue the Success with Bowers as they continue to try to buld the roster.
