The 2024 NFL Regular Season has not been kind to the Cincinnati Bengals. Night in and night out, the team has shown strong offensive prowess, putting up big numbers to compete with some of the best teams in the league.
Still, they find themselves 5-8. The Bengals are not out of playoff contention yet, but their chances of sneaking in at a wild card spot are slim at the moment. So much so that before Monday night's win over the Dallas Cowboys, their chances of advancing to the postseason were at 5.9%.
Still, with the offense playing great, wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase could make history this season despite a playoff run being up in the air at the moment.
The LSU graduate, who has been the main target of Joe Burrow on the field for a long time now, is in pursuit of a triple crown in the NFL. Chase currently leads in receptions, yards, and TDs for any receiver in the league right now.

To dive further into the numbers, Chase has 93 receptions, 1,319 yards, and 15 receiving touchdowns.

If he keeps these numbers up for a few more weeks, he could join some well-established company. Chase's pursuit comes three seasons after Los Angeles Rams wideout Cooper Kupp got the Triple Crown award.
There's a strong case for the Bengals wide receiver to get the label of "Bet Receiver in the Game, " especially with a contract extension looming. However, many don't want to give him that label yet, maybe because the Bengals are sitting at 5-8 and unsure how far they'll go after the final week of the regular season.

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor chimed in on the triple crown talk after the 27-20 win Monday night.
"We just can't give him the ball enough," Taylor said. "We got it to him 14 times, and it feels like you could still try to get it to him more, and we did. In some of those moments, sometimes you try to keep it simple and give playmakers the ball and it paid out for us."
Chase would record 14 receptions for 177 yards and two touchdowns, which were major additions to his incredible stats in 2024. Let's not forget he set a franchise record back in September with the most receptions in a single game and became only the fifth player in NFL history to record 15 receptions and three receiving touchdowns in one game.
That day aligned him with the likes of the great Jerry Rice.
Every time Chase steps on the field, he takes a step towards the Hall of Fame one day, and if he can cap off a roller coaster of a season with the triple crown, that only propels his greatness forward even more.
