Serie A giants AC Milan will demand at least €50 million to sell 27-year-old French full-back Theo Hernandez, a target for Manchester United and Real Madrid.
According to a report by Italian outlet Calciomercato, Manchester United and Real Madrid are interested in Theo Hernandez. However, AC Milan will not let the French full-back leave for a cheap sum. The Serie A giants wanted €80 million to part ways with him last summer but want at least €50 million to sell him next year.
Theo Hernandez and his rise at AC Milan
Theo Hernandez has established himself as one of the best full-backs in Serie A since joining AC Milan in July 2019. The Frenchman has gone from strength to strength in the last half a decade, with his exploits helping him break into his national side in September 2021.
The 27-year-old has turned out nearly 250 times thus far for AC Milan while chipping in with 31 goals and 41 assists. However, Hernandez’s contract situation has left the Serie A outfit in a spot of bother, as he will enter the final 18 months of his contract next month.
Meanwhile, Hernandez’s progress at AC Milan has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe. Manchester United and Real Madrid are the French full-back’s prospective suitors ahead of the January transfer window. Meanwhile, the Serie A giants want at least €50 million to part ways with him.
What next?
Manchester United’s interest in Theo Hernandez is understandable. The Red Devils are scouring the market for a left-back amid Luke Shaw’s never-ending injury horrors. So, Manchester United should invest in a top-class left-back, with Hernandez emerging as a viable target.
As for Real Madrid, Ferland Mendy faces an uncertain future at the Santiago Bernabeu after struggling to make his mark this season. In addition, the decision-makers at Real Madrid do not view Fran Garcia as good enough to be the first-choice left-back. So, Hernandez is an option worth considering for Los Blancos.
Meanwhile, it is unclear if Manchester United and Real Madrid will be ready to meet AC Milan’s valuation. While the Red Devils face PSR issues, Los Blancos might not cough up over €50 million to re-sign the 27-year-old French full-back from the Serie A club.
