Jose Mourinho has repeatedly said that finishing second in the Premier League with Manchester United is one of the highlights of his entire career.
In the 2017/18 season, Mourinho’s Manchester United finished 2nd to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, although there were 19 points separating the two teams.
The two managers had already built up quite a rivalry, which reached something of a chaotic peak during their El Clasico days. That’s often seen words traded between the two men, sometimes directly and sometimes via the media.
Guardiola recently said he’s won twice as many Premier League titles as Mourinho, with the latter then saying he’s won his fairly and referencing “150 court cases” Manchester City have been facing.
Mourinho currently manages Fenerbahce and is set to face Athletic Club Bilbao in the Europa League on Wednesday. In his press conference ahead of that match, Mourinho was encouraged to again comment on the Manchester City situation.

Although unlikely, there’s the possibility that if Manchester City are found guilty then Mourinho’s second place with Manchester United could be upgraded… which won’t have escaped his attention.
