Man Utd chiefs 'share same Marcus Rashford concern' as two transfer options laid out

Manchester United's power brokers bear significant concerns about Marcus Rashford and his lifestyle away from football, according to reports. And, despite a promising start to the Ruben Amorim era, Rashford now faces a battle to save his career at his boyhood club under Ineos' cut-throat rule.

The Red Devils forward has featured in all five matches and scored three goals since Amorim replaced Erik ten Hag as boss last month.

But he has only started twice and faces intense competition for a regular berth from Rasmus Hojlund and Alejandro Garnacho.

Rashford enjoyed a career-best 30-goal season when Ten Hag took charge in 2022, earning a lucrative new contract worth over £300,000-a-week until 2028.

However, since the start of last term, he has struck just 15 times in 66 appearances and lost his place in the England set-up.

A dismal 2023/24 campaign included being dropped for United's FA Cup win at Newport County for reporting ill after being spotted on a boozy bender in Belfast the night before.

Rashford was also fined two weeks' wages, and it wasn't the first disciplinary action he faced under Ten Hag, which further increased tension with supporters.

According to the Telegraph, United are worried about how Rashford lives his life away from the pitch, believing he isn't as focused on football as he should be.

It's claimed that the 27-year-old is shouldering multiple distractions that are negatively impacting his performances and, subsequently, leaving his future uncertain.

United are said to be open to offers and were also prepared to cash in on the academy graduate last summer.

The Old Trafford giants are under intense financial pressure, testing the margins of the Premier League and UEFA's regulations.

United have accumulated losses before tax of £312.9million across the past three seasons, splashing £600m in the transfer market since the summer of 2022.

Rashford's transfer fee would represent pure profit on the books, and freeing up his eye-watering salary would also go a long way in boosting Amorim's budget.

The report adds that a switch to Saudi Arabia is an option, while Paris Saint-Germain continue to be credited as suitors.

But with Amorim reportedly tasked with working with a tighter budget than his predecessor, it remains to be seen whether the Portuguese head coach would personally prefer to keep Rashford.

There will be alternative opportunities to raise funds through player sales, and Amorim will back himself to flaunt his ability to improve individuals once more with United's No. 10.
