Arsenal legend Ian Wright believes that a move for former Gunners goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale would have been beneficial for Chelsea. He believes a top goalkeeper would put them in the Premier League title race.
He said on the Kelly and Wrighty show:
“I think if Chelsea can get a goalkeeper, a top goalkeeper, I think Ramsdale would’ve been perfect for them, but hey, and they need that Thiago Silva, experienced centre-half, they’re in this fight without a doubt.”
A brilliant start to the season for Enzo Maresca's men has been undermined by some mediocre performances from first-team option Robert Sanchez in goal. He has already accrued three errors leading to goals in the league, the second-most. Chelsea also have summer signing Filip Jorgensen amongst the ranks, with the former Villarreal man putting in some solid performances in the UEFA Europa Conference League.
Meanwhile, Ramsdale left Arsenal in the summer for a move to the newly-promoted side Southampton. The 26-year-old had joined the Gunners from Sheffield United in the summer of 2021 but was eventually replaced as the first option by David Raya. Seeking a move in search of regular game time, he joined the Saints for a fee of £18 million.

Cunha has been impressive for Wolves this season.
Chelsea, Arsenal, and Paris Saint-Germain have expressed interest in signing Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Matheus Cunha. According to Spanish outlet Fichajes.net, the Brazilian attacker could be on the move, with multiple top clubs across Europe keen on him.
The 25-year-old has been a silver lining in a dismal season for Gary O'Neil's men, who find themselves 19th in the league. He has seven goals and three assists in 15 games in the league.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are keen on adding a striker to their ranks. They seem to have lost some of their attacking threat, collecting 29 goals from their 15 league fixtures, including an increased reliance on set-pieces. The addition of a prolific frontman like Cunha to replace the misfiring Gabriel Jesus and patchy Kai Havertz could work wonders for the Gunners.
Chelsea, meanwhile, already boast a prolific attacking core including the likes of Cole Palmer, Nicolas Jackson, and Christopher Nkunku, among others. However, reports have suggested that the Frenchman is concerned over his playing time at the club. Should he find an exit, Cunha could prove to be a reliable replacement.
