Arsenal 'Interested' In January Move For £80M Rated Forward Who Pep Guardiola Has Described As "Exceptional"

Arsenal would consider making a bid for West Ham forward Mohammed Kudus if he is available during the January transfer window, according to TBRFootball.

The website claims that the Gunners are “interested in signing” the Ghanaian international as they look to strengthen their options up front.

Kudus does have a release clause in his contract but that can only be triggered at the end of the season.

TBRFootball report that, if the Hammers were to consider selling him in January, they would demand a fee close to £80m.

Kudus has received high praise from Guardiola

Speaking back in May in the build-up to Manchester City’s final game of the season against West Ham, manager Pep Guardiola described the Hammers star as an “exceptional player”.

Kudus would go on to prove that by scoring a spectacular overhead kick but the goal proved to be in vain. As Arsenal fans will know all too well, City went on to win the game 3-1 and sealed another Premier League title.

Arsenal will have competition for the player

Kudus’s price tag may already be too steep for Mikel Arteta’s side but they might not have much luck in trying to negotiate down the fee.

The Ghanaian has not had the best of seasons so far, having scored just 2 goals and contributed 2 assists in 12 appearances, but he is still a player in demand.

Both Manchester United and Liverpool have been credited with an interest in Kudus recently and, if Arsenal do make a formal approach for him in January, it may prompt both of those clubs to get involved.

It should also be pointed out that Kudus is more of a winger, rather than an out-and-out forward. Considering the Gunners are most in need of a true No.9, he may not be the perfect fit for what the club is looking for.
