Who is the most important player at Aston Villa right now?
There might be some who go for the player they deem the best player at the club, the in-form player or the individual playing in a position where there isn’t much depth.
Lucas Digne is an underrated left-back, Emi Martinez is the world’s number one and Ollie Watkins’ goals have been crucial to Aston Villa’s rise in recent times.
Someone like Morgan Rogers is coming through and he has found his form again after Villa’s wins over Brentford and Southampton.
Then there is the captain himself John McGinn, or perhaps the ever-present player Youri Tielemans – many feel he has been Villa’s best performer this term.
But Unai Emery lauded a guy in his Champions League press conference who deserves the label of ‘Villa’s most important player’.
Unai Emery praises ‘very intelligent’ Boubacar Kamara for Aston Villa before RB Leipzig clash
When Boubacar Kamara’s season ended in February, it caused Emery and Villa problems from a defensive aspect.
They lost that bite in midfield, that balance and defensive cover, so it wasn’t a surprise that the goals started raining in at the wrong end – added to McGinn and Douglas Luiz losing form.

But now Kamara is back in action, he is finding his feet again and, as the manager touched upon, his intelligence in the midfield is bringing that much-needed balance to the side.

“Kamara is a very important player, he gives us a lot of balance,” shared Emery. “Tactically, he is very intelligent and his capacity to keep possession or cover when we’re attacking can help us.”
Kamara’s stats for Aston Villa
Not only has Kamara returned from a long period on the sidelines, but he also was in the treatment room again during this past international break.
But now his engine is starting to warm up again, the team’s performances are starting to grow and the back-to-back wins prove that.
Hopefully, that continues ahead of Villa’s clash against RB Leipzig on Tuesday evening, with WhoScored rating Kamara’s overall performances so far at 6.43.
