‘World-class’ Utd target now under increasing ‘pressure’ to sign new deal before Christmas amid agent reluctance

Bayern Munich are seemingly growing increasingly fearful that they could lose ‘world-class’ fullback Alphonso Davies for nothing next year.

Aware that the star is garnering interest from the likes of Manchester United, Real Madrid and Barcelona, Bayern are now ‘putting pressure’ on him to sign a new deal before Christmas, according to German football expert Christian Falk.

Of course, the reason they’re so adamant about tying Davies down to fresh terms is that, in only three weeks’ time, he can open talks with foreign clubs and even sign a pre-agreement ahead of a potential summer switch. The Bundesliga leaders want a decision made before he ‘has the opportunity to meet with United and Madrid in January’.

The player’s entourage is said to be hesitant to meet Bayern’s strict timeline and are instead ‘considering continuing negotiations into the new year’. This would give Davies the chance to consider all his offers on the table while mulling over which best suits him at this stage of his career.

Whether or not he’ll part ways with the Bavarian outfit remains to be seen. He has won everything on offer to him in Munich, including a continental treble in 2020, and is still only just approaching his peak at 24 years old.

Bayern was Davies’ first venture into Europe when he signed from Vancouver Whitecaps in 2018. He spent one year with the reserves before quickly establishing himself as an integral piece of Niko Kovac’s puzzle. His form has rarely faltered since, and he has been an ever-present under each manager at the Allianz.

For United, signing a left-back has been deemed something of a priority following the news of Luke Shaw suffering yet another setback. Tyrell Malacia is now fit and available after missing an entire season and a half on the sidelines, though he has been used sparingly since returning to the fold.
