**Liverpool transfer target Joel Ordonez has revealed that he would be open to joining a Premier League team.**
The Ecuadorian international plays for Club Brugge in Belgium and, asked about a possible switch to England in the build-up to their match against Sporting Lisbon, the defender replied:
“The Premier League? I would like that.”
Pressed further on a potential transfer, Ordonez emphasised that he wants to concentrate on performing well for his current team:
“About the interest from abroad? Honestly, I don’t know anything about that at the moment. I’m just trying to focus on Club Brugge and my team. My concentration remains 100 per cent here.”
Several Premier League clubs are interested in Ordonez

[**Chelsea**](https://walkon.com/blog/liverpool-news-virgil-van-dijk-john-terry-jermaine-pennant-exclusive/) were the first Premier League side linked with the 20-year-old earlier this season but, over the past few weeks, they have been joined by the likes of Liverpool, Newcastle, Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest, Brentford, Wolves and Brighton.
Ordonez is unlikely to be sold on the cheap due to the number of clubs pursuing him and there are reports suggesting that he could cost as much as £25m despite his limited experience at senior level.
Why are Liverpool interested in the player?
-------------------------------------------
The Ecuadorian is a very promising defender, who is capable of playing at centre-back or right-back. He could well be the Reds’ chosen successor for Joe Gomez.
It is believed that the England international has been keen to leave Anfield since the start of this year, and he was close to joining Newcastle as part of the deal for Anthony Gordon before the move collapsed back in the summer.
Ordonez has played all of his football as a centre-half at club level this season so he could provide cover for Ibrahima Konate. However, he can also be deployed on the right-hand side of defence, having played in that position when he received his first cap for Ecuador earlier this year.
