Breaking Mikel Arteta confirms Arsenal defender 'ready' to make injury return vs Monaco

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Kieran Tierney is ready to make his long-awaited return from injury for the Champions League clash against Monaco. A hamstring issue picked up during Euro 2024 has seen the left-back miss the last six months, but he is now ready to feature again.

"Yeah he's ready and training really well and he's going to have an opportunity for sure the way the team is looking at the moment," [Arteta said on Tuesday when asked about Tierney.](https://www.football.london/arsenal-fc/fixtures-results/arsenal-press-conference-live-mikel-30552701)

"He's going to do that for that reason and because he's earned it. The way he's behaved the way he's been with us and because he's willing to do it. When that happens you have to give opportunities to those kinds of players." A defensive injury crisis could see Tierney came straight into the starting XI.

Gabriel Magalhaes, Riccardo Calafiori, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Thomas Partey and Jurrien Timber, with the latter duo as fresh blows, are all doubts to feature against the French club with Arteta giving minimal away in his injury update. "We have to manage a lot of the players," the Arsenal boss said in a press conference.

"Some of them probably aren’t going to be fit. Some are still a doubt. We have 24 hours to make a decision and hopefully it’ll be the right ones." Takehiro Tomiyasu and Ben White are also unavailable and will likely be out for some time as they recover from knee problems.
