Forgotten 22-year-old set for West Ham exit, he wants to leave - report

One West Ham United player is keen to leave the club in the January transfer window.

There could be a lot of activity at the London Stadium in the January window.

West Ham head coach Julen Lopetegui is in all sorts of trouble right now, and if results don’t improve, he won’t be in charge come the opening of the January window.

The Spaniard has seriously underperformed in his role at the club, since replacing David Moyes in the summer.

However, Tim Steidten shouldn’t escape the criticism either, after a pretty poor summer window.

A few things need to be addressed this winter, including the additions of a new striker and a powerful central midfielder.

But the latest news is regarding a potential exit rather than an incoming.

The upcoming January window will obviously be very important for the Hammers.

And one man seems almost certain to leave.

According to a report from UOL out in Brazil, Hammers centre-back Luizao is set to leave the London Stadium in January.

The 22-year-old allegedly wants to leave the Hammers, with a return to his native Brazil on the cards.

A strange signing in the first place, Luizao is clearly not anywhere near good enough to play Premier League football.

The Brazilian centre-back joined West Ham on a free transfer from Sao Paulo way back in January 2023.

However, he’s still yet to play a single minute for the senior side, despite featuring regularly for the under-21s.

West Ham actually tried to sell him in the summer, but his £4 million price-tag put off any potential suitors.

Corinthians made a £2.5 million bid for the 22-year-old centre-back, but the Hammers rejected the offer.

That seems mad to me. Why on earth we didn’t sell him for that kind of money genuinely baffles me.

Now it looks like he’ll be leaving finally.

Whether West Ham will be able to get a decent fee for Luizao in the January transfer window remains to be seen though.
