There has been a lot of transfer speculation around the big Irishman in recent weeks
Evan Ferguson has been linked to yet another Premier League club, ahead of a potential move away in January.
The 20-year-old Meath man has struggled for starts this season with Brighton, as his career continues to stall after his breakthrough back in 2022/23 when he was being valued at close to £100 million.
He has made just three starts in all competitions this season, scoring once, following an injury-ravaged 2023/24.
Football Insider have had a number of reports on Ferguson’s future, with Nottingham Forrest, Leicester City and Fulham all linked at various stages.
The assumption is that if Ferguson does leave it will be on a loan deal, given his current contract runs until 2029.
Ferguson to West Ham?
Now Premier League strugglers West Ham have been linked with the Irish international.
And It seems like a plausible destination on paper, where Ferguson could get regular starts.
Manager Julen Lepetegui has come under fire after a run of poor results which sees the Hammers languishing in 14th place in the table.
The gaffer will no doubt be looking to recruit in January, and Football Insider also said that the club have been keen on Ferguson for a while, but that their interest has been ramped up since Michail Antonio’s car crash on the weekend.
The striker has had to go through surgery for a lower-limb fracture, and will be out long term.
However, Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler recently poured cold water on the idea of the striker leaving in January, while Ferguson also started in last weekend’s draw with Leicester City.
Hurzeler said: “I don’t know from where this information comes because I said to Evan that I’m happy he is here and how he is training, what shape he is in physically and mentally. Of course, he is a young player and needs game time.
“Accept your role and make sure you bring yourself in the mood and the shape that, when you get the chance, you are ready.
“It is exactly that which I demand from Evan and also what I said to him. I never said anything to him about a loan or anything like this.”
