Sandro Tonali returned to action for Newcastle United earlier this season after a lengthy suspension.
He’s played 15 times accross all competitions for Eddie Howe’s side, picking up one assist in the Premier League.
Some weeks ago, there was talk of his potential return to AC Milan but it died down quickly.
It seems as if the Italian press is still harbouring hopes of Tonali’s return to Serie A, as Calciomercato have today looked at his situation at Newcastle United.
The outlet doubt his future at St James’ Park, insisting the 24-year-old ‘still has admirers’ across Europe, and Newcastle’s uncertain financial situation could lead to his exit.
Calciomercato note Newcastle are 12th in the table and not close to qualifying for Europe. On top of that, they don’t believe that the ex-Rossoneri has truly impressed in the Premier League so far.
There is an indication that Tonali would want European football and can become a sellable entity for the Magpies.
A return to AC Milan has been described as a ‘fantasy’ but they do not rule out a move to another club in the near future, and the Italian media would dearly love for that club to be in Serie A.
