Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has told the Spanish media that he doesn’t plan to manage another club when he finally leaves the Premier League champions.
The Spaniard recently committed himself to Manchester City after it looked like this could be his final season with the club when his contract was due to expire.
Marca have covered comments Guardiola has made to the Desmontadito podcast when he was asked about his future.
Guardiola said he would like to quit the game and play golf, but he feels he still has something to offer right now. He went on to say one day he will walk away from football, but when he leaves Manchester City he will not manage another club in a different country.
“I’m not going to take another team. I’m not talking about the future, the future…, but what I’m not going to do is leave [Manchester City] to go to another country. I will no longer have the energy. I do it because I like it, there is no other explanation. I want to quit and go play golf, but I can’t. There will come a time when I feel that enough is enough and then I will stop definitively,” said the Manchester City boss.
The 53-year-old arrived at the Etihad in 2016 and has since gone on to guide the English side to six Premier League titles and the club’s first Champions League.
However, the former Barcelona manager has found this season difficult after some poor results in recent weeks, which sees them trailing league leaders Liverpool.
