Joshua Zirkzee grabbed a brace for Manchester United against Everton two weeks ago.
Despite that, the Dutchman didn’t start for the Red Devils against Nottingham Forest or against Arsenal, and had to come off the bench.
He didn’t score in those games and doubts about Zirkzee’s future at Manchester United have emerged once again. It was Juventus who were interested in signing him some days go but the club now linked with the Dutchman is Napoli.
Il Mattino, as relayed by CalcioNapoli24, have reported today that the Naples-based club want to strengthen their squad in January and 23-year-old Zirkzee has now emerged as a target.
Manager Antonio Conte has given the ‘green light’ to bring the striker to the Italian giants. Zirkzee himself would be interested in an exit to Serie A in the winter transfer window, at least according to the Italian media.
Conte, it is mentioned, is a fan of the player and wanted to sign him in the summer before the Netherlands international joined Manchester United. Finances didn’t allow a move to Napoli to go through.
The outlet believe that January could be the right time for the move to go through.
Napoli and Conte have had success with Scott McTominay since signing him from Manchester United in the summer, and will be hoping for the same if they manage to get Joshua Zirkzee.
