Former Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson has recently learned to walk again. He also gave a beautiful life lesson, we can all learn from.
As football fans, we can often forget that the players we idolise and the managers we look up to are human beings too. It is one of those sports where those faces we see week in, week out, appear to be untouchable.
However, this could not be further from the truth. There are some unfortunate elements to life which can impact anyone, regardless of their position in society.
Former Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson reminded us all of this in his recent health update.
Nigel Pearson has recently been learning to walk again. The former Leicester City boss bravely publicised his neurological issue and he has made some positive steps in his recovery.
The former Fox, who managed the club on two separate occasions, posted to his social media account, thanking those who supported him along his journey to walking again.
In his own words, Pearson said: "Learning to walk again has been an incredible challenge. My appreciation of support from family, friends, colleagues, supporters, and medical professionals has been profound."
Nigel Pearson provided further life updates, confirming the brilliant and heartwarming news that he had travelled to the United States of America, visiting his family in Wisconsin for the first time.
I would like to thank all the kind people who have continued to send their support during the last 13 months. I'd like to update you. Learning to walk again has been an incredible challenge. Not only has Pearson learned to walk again, he has been cycling the Peak District, which is only stone's throw from Leicester. He has also been to the driving range to hone his golf skills, albeit there is work to be done there (we don't doubt it, Nige).
The standout message from Nigel Pearson's heartwarming update was his brilliant life lesson. He said that in tough times such as this, laughter and positivity can be the best medicine.
On this, Pearson said: "Although my prognosis is still uncertain, believe me that positivity and laughter can prove the best medicine as I experienced with old friends from school on a canal narrow boat on my birthday... there is always light somewhere ahead... new possibilities, new challenges."
This is incredible bravery shown by someone who definitely impacted the history of Leicester City. We only hope Pearson the very best and we applaud his appreciation for life - A lesson we can all learn from.
Pearson should need no introduction to Leicester City fans. However, those blessed with youth are forgiven should they be unfamiliar. Pearson won both League One with Leicester, and then the Championship.
Without Pearson, Leicester City would not have had the opportunity to win the Premier League. Therefore, the club will forever be in his debt.
