Chelsea have taken an important decision regarding Tosin Adarabioyo. They are very likely deny the player’s wish of moving away from the Stamford Bridge.
Tosin Adarabioyo joined the Blues this summer on free transfer. But, he has not been able to get regular football due to the vast squad depth of Chelsea. The 27 year old has so far played 11 games across all competitions. He has only played 5 Premier League matches and has started in only 3 of those.
Adarabioyo is far down the pecking order and there are very slim chances of him getting regular football this season. Hence, he was being linked with a loan move to West Ham United in recent days.
Hammers are struggling at the moment and are keen to improve their squad. Adarabioyo has been on their radar and it was also reported that the player has agreed to join them in January. But now, Chelsea have taken an opposite decision to this.
Chelsea unwilling to let Tosin Adarabioyo leave on loan in January
As per Football Insider, Enzo Maresca is unwilling to make any changes to the squad mid-season. As a result, Chelsea board will not sanction any loan move despite the interest from the player himself.
The Blues have tied the 27 year old with a contract running until 2028. This gives them upper hand in deciding future of the defender. As of now, they want to keep Adarabioyo as one of the main defender Fofana is already injured.
The Blues are also said to make more defensive signing next year. If they do sign some defenders in January, then they may change their plans and let players like Adarabioyo leave on loan. As of now, they have strong interest of signing Tomas Araujo from Benfica who has £83 million release clause in his contract.
