Manchester United And Arsenal Receive Transfer Boost In Pursuit Of£66M-Rated Striker

Manchester United transfer target striker Jonathan David has revealed that the Premier League is his preferred destination should he leave Lille.

The striker has generated a lot of transfer interest this season due to his impressive performances for the French Ligue 1 club.

He has scored 17 goals in 23 games in all competitions so far this season for Lille and has also recorded three assists.

Manchester United are among the clubs that are keen to hold talks with David over a possible transfer as he is set to become a free agent at the end of the season.

According to Caught Offside, the Canadian international is keen on a move to the Premier League with United and Arsenal both monitoring his situation at Lille.

However, the report suggests that the strongest interest has so far come from Serie A side Inter Milan and La Liga side Barcelona who expect to pay around £66m to sign him according to Catalan outlet SPORT.

Manchester United and Arsenal also battling for 24-goal star

Both United and Arsenal have also been linked to Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres who has scored 24 goals in all competitions this season for the Portuguese side.

Arsenal have been interested in him since the summer transfer window whereas interest from United has stepped up since the appointment of Ruben Amorim, who managed Gyokeres at Sporting.

Reports have suggested that United could sign the Sweden international in a swap deal with Joshua Zirkzee who has been poor since joining in the summer.

Zirkzee and Hojlund struggling to perform up front

Manchester United could make a move for a new striker in January despite having both Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund who cost a combined fee of over £100m.

They have combined for just five goals in the Premier League so far this season, and neither has been able to tie down the striker spot at Old Trafford.

If both continue to struggle, the Ruben Amorim could decide to sell one and sign a replacement striker, with David and Gyokeres both credible options.
