Earlier today it was revealed that Manchester United are open to selling Marcus Rashford over the next two transfer windows.
It was revealed that whilst United have seen an improvement in the attacker under new manager Ruben Amorim, the club are still open to part ways for the right price.
The main drive for this is understood to be the struggles United are facing with Financial Fair Play rules, with Rashford’s salary being a contributing factor.
By selling the star it would support the salary cap the club face, whilst also generating funds for future transfers.
However, The Telegraph has now revealed that there’s much more to it.
Marcus Rashford and his off-pitch antics
United are reportedly concerned about Rashford’s lifestyle off the pitch, feeling that his focus is no longer on his football as it once was.
Sources close to the England international have claimed that Rashford is facing several off-field factors which are affecting him on the pitch.
Back in January, the star was fined two weeks wages for being pictured on a night out in Belfast, drinking heavily, then reporting ill to training. This move also saw him dropped from United’s FA Cup win over Newport County.
In 2022 he was also left out of the starting XI for a Boxing Day game against Wolves, due to “internal disciplinary” reasons. However, Rashford ultimately came on as a substitute, scoring the winning goal.
More recently Rashford was seen having flown to New York during the international break to watch an NBA game, gaining much criticism.
However, with Amorim now in post, Rashford still has time to turn things around and show he still has the drive to do well.
With three goals in five appearances under the new manager, he’s certainly showing his potential, however, as one of the highest-paid players at the club, consistency is certainly needed for him to stay at Old Trafford.
Unfortunately for United, this salary of £325,000 per week puts him well out of a lot of the club’s price range, leaving Saudi Arabia or PSG as the only real contenders.
