Everton and Liverpool could rearrange the cancelled Merseyside Derby clash to be the final match at Goodison Park, according to The Athletic.
The online outlet reported on 10 December that the Premier League have to come to an agreement with broadcasters and local police before deciding a new date for the clash.
One posibility could be to resechudle the game for the week after the season is set to end as Southampton travel to Merseyside on May 18.
The Wednesday or Thursday after this clash could be earmarked as a “hugely appealing” date for broadcasters to show the final game at Goodison.
Although this may suit TNT Sports and Co., the Toffees and their rivals may not be receptive of this proposal given the stakes that may ride on the result at the top and bottom of the Premier League.

Everton v Liverpool to be rearranged to suit broadcasters
There is no surprise that broadcasters are keen to make their feelings known about the rearranged date for the Merseyside Derby.
The clash between the blue and red half of the county is up there with one of the most bitter rivalries in the country so it was hugely disappointing to have it called off due to Storm Darragh on Saturday (7 November).
There will be now be plenty of pressure on the powers that be to find a new date and time for the fixture which suits all parties which may be a difficult task.

The future remains unclear at Goodison Park
Although it may not be what either club want, it has to be said that the final ever match at Goodison Park being a derby could be a poetic way to end things with The Grand Old Lady.
There would only be additional eyes on the clash with it being the final game of the season but if the Toffees and the Reds have their way, this feels unlikely to go ahead.
