The Dallas Cowboys could be looking for a new coach in the offseason.
Mike McCarthy has reportedly been on the hot seat for quite a while now.
And with his team finding new ways to lose over and over, it seems like this could be the end of the line for him.
Notably, Bill Belichick has been a rumored candidate to take over the team for some time now.
That’s why, with the news of Belichick reportedly being interested in taking UNC’s head coaching position, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones made sure to share his thoughts on the matter (via 105.3 The Fan & Jon Machota):

It doesn’t surprise me that everything there is out here that has a coach concept associated with that he’s not being considered,” Jones said.

It sounds like Jones would be interested in contacting Belichick about the head coaching opening.
Then again, there would be some things that could potentially get in the way here.
For starters, Belichick and Jones both want to be in control, and it remains to be seen whether Jones would even consider giving up his GM duties to Belichick.
On the other hand, Belichick ran a tight ship during his days with the New England Patriots.
Jones won’t stop doing his weekly radio appearances or speaking his mind about everything that goes on with the team, and it’s hard to envision Belichick signing up to coach under those circumstances.
This partnership would be exactly what both parties need or a disaster.
There’s no in-between.
