Manchester United have ‘set’ their asking price for Marcus Rashford amid serious concerns within the club surrounding his future under Rúben Amorim.
Marcus Rashford is undoubtedly Manchester United‘s standout success story from their academy in the past decade. Since his debut in February 2016, he has made over 400 appearances and scored 138 goals for the club.
While Rashford’s form has fluctuated throughout his career, he has shown flashes of brilliance that rank him among the league’s best. His 30-goal haul in the 2022/23 season stands as a testament to his potential when firing on all cylinders.

However, the winger endured a difficult campaign last season, managing just eight goals in 43 appearances. His performances this season have also lacked the consistency fans have come to hope for.
Under new head coach Rúben Amorim, Rashford has scored three goals in five matches, but questions remain. Many feel he has yet to truly impress, with reports suggesting the club are seriously concerned about whether his lifestyle is affecting his performances on the pitch under the new coach.
Rashford’s price tag
Alongside Kobbie Mainoo, Leny Yoro, and Rasmus Højlund, Rashford is one of the club’s most valuable assets, which makes him an attractive person to sell.
The Telegraph have reported that United are open to selling Rashford this coming summer, and this is a position that they held in 2024, although many are wondering how much money United would demand for the forward.
Looking back toward the 2024 summer window, when United seemingly first opened their minds to Rashford’s sale, a report from the Manchester Evening News detailed that they view his market at around the £80 million mark.
Further, they revealed that Dwayne Maynard, Rashford’s brother and representative, has discussed managing the 27-year-old winger with an agency.
The financial benefit
As has been relayed by many outlets in recent months, United are attracted to the prospect that Rashford’s sale outlays a significant financial benefit – being an academy player, his transfer fee would be labelled as pure profit.
This would help alleviate the club from their current profit and sustainability rule problems, as well as free up extra cash for Amorim to spend in the summer.
United are already identifying attacking reinforcements for the summer window, and Rashford’s sale could help the club bolster their threat within Amorim’s new system.
Paris St. Germain have long admired the winger, while Saudi Arabia has been touted as a potential destination.
