Gunners are looking for a new sporting director after Edu Gasper left his role. They have been looking at many high profile candidates in the recent months. Now, Arsenal have been linked with Dan Ashworth who just left his role as sporting director at Man United.
Edu Gasper has been one of the main pillars behind Arsenal’s success in recent years. He was able to do a very good job and transform Gunners. But, recently he left his job to take a new job at the muti-club group owned by Evangelos Marinakis.
Arsenal are going to take their time to replace Edu and are already monitoring possible candidates for the role. Edu is on gardening leave and Jason Ayto has stepped up to take matters in his hands. He is being assisted by Richard Garlick who is managing director.
Arsenal will head into the January window without sporting director. They will not make any major signing and instead focus on temporary solutions. In addition, they will focus on finding the replacement for Edu before the next season.
Arsenal linked with Dan Ashworth
Dan Ashworth joined Man United as sporting director this summer. But after just 5 months, he has left the job due to series of disagreements with the other board members. Now, ESPN have reported that Gunners have added Ashworth to their list of possible replacements for Edu.
Ashworth has already worked with Arsenal managing director Richard Garlick. The duo worked together at West Bromwich Albion and had a very good relation. Later, Ashworth then left in 2013 and was succeeded by Garlick as sporting and technical director.
Firstly, Ashworth is already well known due to the work he did at Brighton and Newcastle United. He is well known with the footballing world as can be a very good replacement for Edu. In addition, his relationship with Garlick will help Gunners in the hiring process and forming a good relationship.

Man United fans are very unhappy with Ashworth leaving after just 5 months. Some are saying that it is the board’s fault while some are blaming the owners. It is also reported that making Ruben Amorim has triggered Ashworth to leave United as Amorim was not on his list of potential next manager.
