Manager says £12m talent Crystal Palace are in talks to sign would get into any XI across the…

Crystal Palace are expected to be busy in January with several positions needing reinforcement to support Oliver Glasner.

The Eagles’ season is on the up but plenty of work still needs to be done both in the squad and on the pitch.

Crystal Palace sit in 17th place in the Premier League, and therefore transfer additions in January are a great opportunity for the Eagles to continue on the current four-game unbeaten streak.

Oliver Glasner has already asked for a new forward, along with a wing-back which are two positions lacking depth right now.

Romain Esse is the top target, with Dougie Freedman already advancing in talks for the £12m valued talent.

Neil Harris praises Crystal Palace target Romain Esse

Esse is a talent worth getting excited about and now Neil Harris has praised the 19-year-old, claiming he’d get into any team in the Championship.

Speaking after Millwall were beaten by Coventry, Harris slammed the Millwall fanbase for complaining after defeat, while praising Esse who was missing, as per the Coventry Telegraph.

“You miss Romain [Esse], you miss Japhet [Tanganga] and you miss Jake Cooper. Three players that probably get in anybody’s Championship team.

“So just a reminder to people, the thickos, that when you take the three best players out of the team that this is Millwall Football Club.”

To have such a level of importance to his team so early in his career is an indication of why Esse is so sought after by Crystal Palace.

Harris expected to step down as Millwall manager

After this outburst from Harris, it has now led to the manager departing the club by mutual consent, Millwall has confirmed on Tuesday.

The manager who only arrived last season will now step down upon the conclusion of Saturday’s game against Middlesbrough.

It was Harris who was key in Esse’s rise to first-team football and therefore his departure could have the talented winger keen to leave with Palace already in talks.

However, it may impact Esse’s remaining until the end of the season, as if Millwall are a club in turmoil it could harm his development.

So it remains to be seen the impacts this will have on Palace’s bid to sign Esse.
