Wizards Are Expected To Make Veteran Guard Available For Trade

The Washington Wizards are the worst team in the Eastern Conference and have little chance of reaching the playoffs this season.

So, that has everyone wondering which players they will part ways with in the months ahead.

According to Evan Sidery, the Wizards are expected to make Malcolm Brogdon available on the trade market.

However, Brogdon’s problems with injuries and his $22.5 million expiring contract mean he is “unlikely to fetch significant assets.”

Brogdon has averaged 13.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.6 assists during the 2024-25 season.

Unfortunately, he has only participated in nine games because of a hamstring injury that he can’t seem to shake.

Last season wasn’t much better, and he only played in 39 games for the Portland Trail Blazers.

However, it’s important to remember that just a few seasons ago, Brogdon won Sixth Man of the Year while still playing for the Boston Celtics.

Additionally, he was named Rookie of the Year back in 2016-17.

Brogdon could certainly be a huge help to a team’s second unit, but only if he can remain healthy for the entire season.

Which team will be willing to take on Brogdon’s salary and his history of injuries?

Who needs a sharpshooting guard with veteran knowledge and postseason experience?

That’s an attractive offer for a number of teams, but, again, Brogdon’s health will raise question marks.

The Wizards will likely try to ship Brogdon out, but they will possibly make other changes too.

Still, will any of these alterations result in them climbing higher in the standings, or is the chance of postseason success completely gone already?
