The New England Patriots’ decision to part ways with Bill Belichick proved one thing: They want to win.
Robert Kraft isn’t known for his patience.
He presided over the most successful football team on Earth for two decades and maintained the organization to a certain standard.
That’s why, even though the team wasn’t talented enough to compete at the highest level this season, Jerod Mayo could still be shown the door.
According to a report by Greg Bedard of the Boston Sports Journal, the Patriots could still decide to move on from Mayo.
#Patriots HC Jerod Mayo’s job is not guaranteed, per @GregABedard.
"The chances are likely that he returns, but there are organizational sources who believe Mayo needs to keep the team competitive in the final four games."

Some within the organization aren’t convinced about Mayo’s work, and he will have to keep the team competitive over the season’s final month.
Drake Maye has shown signs of improvement every single game, but the same cannot be said of the first-year head coach.
Mayo was always expected to be Belichick’s heir, but if Kraft didn’t hesitate to pull the trigger and move on from one of the greatest coaches of all time, he wouldn’t think twice before doing the same to his star pupil.
The Patriots still need to add more talent and fix many things on their roster.
Now, Mayo will have a month to prove to his employer that he can turn this team around.
