Ademola Lookman is open to a Premier League return as a quartet of clubs continue to monitor the situation of the Atalanta attacker.
According to Give Me Sport, Ademola Lookman is open to making a return to the Premier League, as a quartet of clubs are chasing the Nigerian international. The attacker has been in tremendous form for Atalanta this season, but a January departure seems unlikely at this stage.
Atalanta have found themselves in a superb position in Serie A, as they lead the standings after 15 rounds. Napoli faltered in their clash with Lazio, which gave Gian Piero Gasperi’s side the impetus to open up a two-point lead at the top, and one player who has stood out is Ademola Lookman.
Following his top performances last season, especially the stunning hat-trick at the Europa League Final, Lookman has continued where he left off this season. He has ten goals and five assists across all competitions for the Bergamo side, as they currently lead the rankings in Serie A.
Since the beginning of the current campaign, a host of sides from the Premier League have monitored Lookman’s situation ahead of January. Given Atalanta’s current position, the club are unlikely to consider selling him then, although a move in the summer might be the case.
Clubs like Real Madrid are also interested in a move, while Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham, and Newcastle United are in the mix. The prolific attacker with versatile qualities instantly improves either side in January.
The report values the player at £25 million, and while they cite his contract until 2026 as the reason for such a low price, they do miss out on the fact that Atalanta have the option to extend, which may see them asking for a much higher fee.
Lookman keen on Premier League return
Lookman has had the taste of Premier League football with Fulham, Leicester City and Everton. The idea of playing for one of the bigger teams does appeal to the 27-year-old, and he would be willing to make a return to the English top flight if a good opportunity presents itself.
With Atalanta likely to ask for a significantly higher fee for the £25m-rated Serie A forward, any move back to England will depend on which club is willing to pay big. One of them likely would, as it seems like Lookman could leave Atalanta as soon as next summer.
