Palmer sets Premier League penalty record with perfect Panenka

Cole Palmer continues to show no signs of a sophomore slump, despite teams paying much more attention to our precocious playmaker, with 11 goals and 6 assists in his 15 league appearances so far this season. That brings his total to 33 goals and 17 assists for Chelsea: an even 50 goals contributions in just 48 Premier League games for the Blues.

Thanks, Manchester City!

Of those 33 goals, 12 have come from the penalty spot. That might qualify, or in some eyes maybe even diminish Palmer’s accomplishments a bit, but considering that those 12 successful penalties have come from 12 attempted penalties, it’s a tremendous accomplishment just the same.

In fact, by scoring both of his penalties against Spurs this weekend, Palmer has set [a new Premier League record](https://x.com/premierleague/status/1865828074191024348), beating Yaya Touré’s previous record of eleven in a row.

And the fact that the record-breaking twelfth, the goal that would end up being the winning goal on Sunday as well, was a Panenka, was just the absolute icing on the cake.

May he never miss!

Never change, Cole, never change:
