Drake Maye and Bill Belichick could prove to be ships passing in the night in more than one location.
The Patriots drafted Maye a little over three months after parting ways with Belichick, who might be on the verge of returning to coaching. The eight-time Super Bowl champion reportedly [has had advanced conversations](https://nesn.com/2024/12/bill-belichick-reportedly-making-insane-demands-amid-job-search/) with North Carolina, where Maye played three collegiate seasons before he was selected third overall by New England in the 2024 NFL Draft.
With buzz about Belichick potentially leading the Tar Heels growing, Maye [was asked to give recommendations](https://x.com/GrantHughesNC/status/1866517316667941282) to the future Hall of Famer in the event he lands in Chapel Hill. The 22-year-old directed Belichick to a pair of restaurants and hailed his old stomping grounds as a “special place,” per 247Sports’ Grant Hughes.
Time will tell if Belichick ends up heeding Maye’s advice. As for the rookie quarterback, he will try to finish his debut Patriots season strong beginning Sunday when New England visits the Arizona Cardinals.
