Report: Chelsea will only be able to sign 'strong' forward from Champions League club for £69m

Chelsea are going to have to spend a lot of money if they want to sign one centre-forward in the new year.

At present, attack does not look to be a problem for Chelsea. Enzo Maresca‘s men are the top goalscorers in the Premier League this season.

Nicolas Jackson has scored eight of his side’s 35 Premier League goals, but it looks like he may have to deal with some more competition up front in 2025.

Earlier this month, it was claimed that Chelsea were already working on signing Liam Delap.

Juventus name price for Dusan Vlahovic

Delap is not the only centre-forward who appears to be on Chelsea’s radar ahead of the new year.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United are all interested in Dusan Vlahovic.

He will not come cheap, though, with the same outlet reporting that Juventus will only entertain offers starting from around €84m (£69.2m), and that is only if the Champions League club decide to sell him.

While the Blues have been linked with the 24-year-old in the past, Fabrizio Romano says Chelsea never tried to sign Vlahovic last summer.

What would Dusan Vlahovic bring to Chelsea?

Vlahovic is the kind of centre-forward that looks capable of succeeding in the Premier League.

The Serbian is not the kind of No.9 that defenders can bully easily. In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport in October, former Juventus and Inter Milan forward Roberto Boninsegna spoke about Vlahovic and said: “He’s strong, massive, he fills up front, he’s a reference, he’s a left-footer full of courage. A good centre-forward.”

While Vlahovic may have the attributes to be a success in England, he does not need to be a priority for Chelsea.

If Jackson keeps scoring and the Blues can keep Christopher Nkunku happy, then they will not need to buy a new centre-forward at all.

And if they do, then going for a young striker like Delap who can rotate with Jackson instead of a more high-profile name like Vlahovic who is likely to stall the Senegal international’s development may be the way to go.
