Liverpool made it six wins out of six with a victory over Girona in the Champions League on Tuesday.
The Reds were well below their best on the night but still managed to see the Spanish side off with a Mohamed Salah penalty securing a 1-0 win.
Here’s how we rated the Liverpool players from a largely underwhelming night in the Champions League.

Defence
Alisson Becker: 9 – Alisson started for the first time in over two months in Girona and instantly showed his worth. The £67m man was tested early on but Alisson stood firm on more than one occasion. A big performance and how good is it to have him back.
Trent Alexander-Arnold: 6 – After a stunning cameo against Newcastle, Alexander-Arnold did well in parts at Girona. Liverpool’s most creative player on the ball, he also stood up well enough defensively.
Joe Gomez: 6 – Went close with a header early but saw Paulo Gazzaniga equal to the effort. Was a little shaky defensively, including getting turned inside out for too easily by Arnaut Danjuma in the second-half. Improved as the game went on.
Virgil van Dijk: 7 – Far better than Gomez, but Van Dijk was still not quite his usual commanding self in Catalonia. Comfortably the best performer out of the four in front of Alisson, though.
Andy Robertson: 5 – Supported Luis Diaz well down the left-hand side but offered little creativity in the final third. Dealt with the pacy Bryan Gil better in the second-half but was a touch too static in possession throughout.

Midfield
Ryan Gravenberch: 6 – Looked bright early on with one or two trademark rolls in the midfield. But the tight nature the midfield did not suit him and he was too easy to play through at times. Not his best display.
Curtis Jones: 4 – Liverpool were guilty of holding onto the ball for far too long throughout this game and Jones was the worst culprit. One dismal giveaway with three Reds supporting him with runs into the area summed up his night.
Dominik Szoboszlai: 5 – As ever worked hard enough but didn’t show quality on the ball when given the chance to.

Attack
Mohamed Salah: 5 – An incredibly ineffectual performance from Salah who simply could not get into the game. Overhit one ball across for Nunez and never looked a threat. Still, got himself on the scoresheet, tucking his penalty away nicely. A terrible, ballooned effort from a good position soon followed.
Darwin Nunez: 4 – Nunez was called ’embarrassing‘ for this theatrics on the pitch recently and this was no better. Fluffed a header in a decent position before firing a one-on-one chance straight at Gazzaniga. His link-up play was as poor as it was at Newcastle, with a number of wayward attempts to find teammates. Subbed off .
Luis Diaz: 5 – Had more of the ball than his two forward line teammates, but did little to nothing with it. A return to the cutting inside and running down blind alleys which we thought we’d seen the end of. Won a penalty by drawing a clumsy challenge from Donny van de Beek.
Substitutes
Cody Gakpo: 7 – Looked like Liverpool’s threat during his short time on the pitch. One lovely touch and drive forward could have resulted in more had he not been brought down.
Harvey Elliott: 6 – Was bright if a little rusty coming on for the final 10 minutes or so.
Wataru Endo: N/A – Good for the Japan captain to get a run out, but he wasn’t afforded much time to do much with it.
