Manchester United’s Europa League clash against Viktoria Plzen could be a record-breaking evening for Rasmus Hojlund.
Ruben Amorim will be desperate to bounce back after consecutive defeats to Arsenal and Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.
Manchester United remain unbeaten in the Europa League this season but still find themselves outside the top eight. That could change with a victory on Thursday evening against Czech outfit Viktoria Plzen.
Amorim called for patience after the Forest defeat, but United will be expected to win on Thursday as strong favourites.
United’s only Europa League game so far under Amorim was the dramatic 3-2 victory over Bodo/Glimt. Rasmus Hojlund scored twice in that clash and will hope for a similar outcome on Thursday.

Rasmus Hojlund hitting form under Ruben Amorim
Amorim has been backed to turn Hojlund into United’s Viktor Gyokeres given the similarities between both Scandinavian strikers.
In Amorim’s first five matches, Rasmus Hojlund has played in four of them and scored three goals – including two in the Europa League.
MORE UNITED STORIES
Former United star Owen Hargreaves has backed Hojlund to thrive under Amorim after his brace against Bodo/Glimt. There have certainly been positive signs that he can take his game to the next level under the Portuguese, but he will have to improve his consistency.
Amorim praised Hojlund’s intensity and it seems as though the Dane is cementing his spot as United’s first-choice striker.
Rasmus Hojlund could match Man United record vs Viktoria Plzen
Hojlund played the full 90 minutes against Forest in the Premier League but will hope to retain his starting spot against Viktoria Plzen.
If not, he will hope to come off the bench and have a goalscoring impact. If Hojlund does find the back of the net on Thursday evening, he will match a record only achieved by United duo Marcus Rashford and Wayne Rooney.

Hojlund has scored eight goals in European competitions for United. If he scores a ninth, he will be only the third United player to achieve that feat while aged 21 or under.
Hojlund turns 22 in early February so has a few games to try and match the feat. Rashford recently netted his 26th goal in Europe against Porto while Rooney retired with 39 European goals.
