Fans were full of praise for Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson after his heroics helped the Reds seal a 1-0 win over Girona in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, December 10. The Brazilian shot-stopper made his much-anticipated return from injury and came up with some crucial saves to keep a clean sheet.
Alisson suffered a hamstring injury in early October, which kept him out of action for almost six weeks. Liverpool's second-choice shot-stopper Caoimhin Kelleher stepped in and delivered some solid performances, but the 32-year-old showed his class upon his return to the side.
Alisson made five important saves, recovered the ball eight times, and completed 25/29 passes (86%) (all stats via FotMob). Fans were delighted with his display and took to social media to express their adulation.

"I just think he's a number one" - Ireland assistant manager makes Caoimhin Kelleher claim after Liverpool shot-stopper Alisson's return from injury
Former Manchester United defender John O'Shea, who is currently the assistant manager for the Republic of Ireland, has claimed that Caoimhin Kelleher is likely to leave Liverpool in the summer.
A graduate of the Reds' academy, Kelleher has been Brazilian superstar Alisson's backup since his jump to the first team in 2019. He has performed impeccably whenever called upon, with 21 clean sheets in 59 appearances for the club thus far.
Despite his impressive displays, Liverpool have signed rising Georgian star Giorgi Mamardashvili from LaLiga side Valencia. The 24-year-old is set to join the side in July 2025, leaving Kelleher to ponder over a potential departure from Anfield.
O'Shea has claimed that the 26-year-old, who has 20 caps for Ireland, will have a long list of suitors if he decides to leave the Reds. O'Shea said (via Liverpool Echo):
"He's unflappable. He's a great character and he's everything you want from your goalkeeper. It's brilliant that he's showing that consistency again and I think, for him, he's going to have lots of teams all around Europe looking for him and I'm sure they'll be knocking down the doors very soon."
"I know for a fact there will be lots more teams looking at him because I just think he’s a number one, top European goalkeeper," O'Shea added.
Kelleher has kept six clean sheets in 12 games across all competitions for Liverpool this season.
