The football season always goes by way too quickly. It’s mid-December, and we only have a month of the NFL regular season left.
Plenty of former Michigan Wolverines are still making an impact late in the regular season to help their respective teams. Let’s lead off this Pro Blue recap with a Michigan safety picking off a Michigan State quarterback.
Josh Metellus intercepts Kirk Cousins pass
It’s always nice to see a former Wolverine corral a pick, but that pick feels even sweeter when the pass comes from the former quarterback of a rival. In MSU alum Kirk Cousin’s return to U.S. Bank Stadium, he threw two picks during the Atlanta Falcons’ loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Josh Metellus caught one of those picks in the second quarter.
Metellus had a solid game overall, being one of the Vikings’ leading tacklers (seven). This was Metellus’ second pick of the season and his first since Week 2. With 78 total tackles on the season, the do-it-all safety leads the 11-2 Vikings in tackles.
Zach Charbonnet scores twice in Seattle win
Former Michigan running back Zach Charbonnet helped hundreds of fantasy football teams clinch playoff spots in their respective leagues with a monster game against Arizona.
The second-year Seattle Seahawks running back score two touchdowns for the second time this season and second time in his career.
The second touchdown came on a 51-yard carry, his longest carry of the season.
This was a career game for Charbonnet, who finished the victory over the Arizona Cardinals with single-game career highs in rushing yards (134) and receiving yards (59).
