Lionel Messi will go down as one of the most successful and exciting footballers of his generation, adding a FIFA World Cup to his accolades certainly helped that.
The Argentine star has more trophies than most, and Messi recently added the MLS MVP to this collection.
Messi is yet to sign a new deal with the Herons but international teammate Alexis Mac Allister recently said he was pleased to see Messi happy in Miami.
Former teammate Javier Mascherano has been appointed Inter Miami manager, maybe this could help Messi sign a contract extension.
No matter where the midfield maestro plays his football it is clear to see that he has a lasting impact on those he has played with.

The pair combined to win numerous French Ligue 1 titles at PSG and Mbappe revealed what training with Messi was like.
He continued: “During training, I used to go up to him and ask: ‘how do you do this? how do you do that?'”
Mbappe is not the only former teammate to praise learning from Messi however.
Other former teammates who have praised learning from Messi
Whilst Lionel Messi’s ability and impact on a team is unquestionable it’s always a show of the player when former and current teammates are quick to praise him.
Former Barcelona teammate, Marc Bartra described playing with Messi as ‘one of the best things’ to happen to him in his career.
Bartra has been linked with a move to Inter Miami, maybe the Messi factor could help convince the star to join the MLS.
Messi’s current manager and former international and club teammate Javier Mascherano also told reporters recently about Messi’s influence on the MLS.
He said: “It is also a league that I think is growing, and Leo is making that happen.”
Another former Barcelona teammate, and US international, Sergino Dest also spoke fondly about Messi’s impact on him as a young player.
It is clear to see that Lionel Messi is a talent on and off the pitch and his former teammates loved every minute of learning from the world great.
