'He's still'- BBC pundit argues Sir Jim Ratcliffe's major Man Utd decision'won't help'Ruben Amorim in slightest

Robbie Savage has claimed that Ruben Amorim will now be aware of the task facing him at Old Trafford after a “rotten weekend” for Manchester United.

Ruben Amorim watched on as Nottingham Forest arrived at Old Trafford on the weekend and sealed all three points against Manchester United.

The Red Devils showed vulnerabilities from corners for the second match running and United were left chasing the scoreline against Nottingham Forest at home.

Amorim, who arrived at Old Trafford from Sporting CP in November, oversaw back-to-back Premier League defeats as United manager in the same week.

The Gunners inflicted a 2-0 defeat on United at the Emirates last Wednesday before the Red Devils suffered a 3-2 loss to Forest on the weekend.

Amorim has only managed two wins in his first five matches as United manager since the end of the November international break.

Savage on problems at Man Utd

Manchester United languish in 13th place in the Premier League table and the Red Devils are eight points adrift from the top four after 15 league matches.

Speaking to Football365, Robbie Savage highlighted the problems impacting United both on the pitch and off it.

The 50-year-old footballer-turned-pundit suggested that Ruben Amorim would not be helped by the situation surrounding ex-United sporting director Dan Ashworth.

Dan Ashworth made his exit from Old Trafford only five months into his stint after he became a key appointment for Ineos and Sir Jim Ratcliffe in the summer.

According to The Athletic, United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe was ‘pivotal to the call to part ways’ with former Newcastle sporting director Ashworth.

“It was a rotten weekend too for Manchester United,” Savage said.

“If Ruben Amorim wasn’t certain of the size of the job he faces before, he must be now.

“He’s still learning about his players and what’s going on above him, with Dan Ashworth leaving already, won’t help him.”

Amorim remains optimistic at Man Utd

Amorim will hope that United can bounce back on Thursday when they resume their European campaign against Viktoria Plzen away from home in the Europa League.

Speaking after the Forest defeat, Amorim reminded United fans that there are “ups and downs in football” and he is looking ahead for things to click in the future.

“Of course, we have to,” he said.

“I think everybody here has experienced ups and downs in football. You have to continue your job, doing the same things, being really convinced of your way.

“I’m really convinced of that. It’s really hard to lose games. I know the public and the fans want to win.

“It’s a long time without winning, without that feeling. We’re in a long journey and we’re going to do it.”
