The Indiana Pacers have had a disappointing start to the 2024-25 NBA season. It should not be surprising to anyone to see the Pacers tinker with the roster, in hopes of getting back on track.
One of the major things that has plagued Indiana this season is injuries. They have missed several key rotational pieces throughout the year.
Two of the bigger absences that the Pacers have had to deal with are James Wiseman and Isaiah Jackson. Their injuries have resulted in the Pacers being pretty thin in the frontcourt.
NBA insider Shams Charania revealed earlier today that the team will likely be in the market for a backup center. There is one team that immediately comes to mind.
The Brooklyn Nets are overachieving during this season that was supposed to be a rebuilding year. That should result in them being sellers before the NBA Trade Deadline on Feb. 6. This would make the two sides natural trade partners.
A possible trade here could see the Pacers sending Ben Sheppard and a second-round pick in 2025 (via MIA) to the Nets in exchange for Day'Ron Sharpe.

The Nets would receive draft capital to aid their rebuild, along with a young guard, in Sheppard, who is shooting above 40 percent from 3-point on the season.
The Pacers get some big-time help in the frontcourt with Sharpe. The Nets big man is still somewhat of an unknown at the NBA level in terms of his ceiling as a role player. However, he should be capable of stepping in and filling the void of some quality minutes off the bench for the Pacers.
