Three weeks after chart-topping Baton Rouge rapper NBA YoungBoy pleaded guilty to state charges tied to a prescription drug fraud operation, he stood inside another courtroom in Utah on Tuesday and was sentenced to 23 months behind bars, federal court records showed.
U.S. District Judge David Barlow handed down the sentence and ordered the embattled 25-year-old rap star, whose real name is Kentrell Desean Gaulden, to do five years of supervised release following his prison stint.
The sentence ends a four-year saga that began in Baton Rouge when police rounded up Gaulden and 15 members of his entourage after seizing more than a dozen guns from the scene of a music video he was shooting near his grandfather's Chippewa Street home in September 2020.
