Joe Burrow Makes Comments That Could Impact Patriots’ Offseason Plans

Joe Burrow has lost enough this season and already is speaking out in hopes of preventing offseason losses.

Following a Week 14 win against the Dallas Cowboys on “Monday Night Football,” the Bengals star quarterback expressed his feelings on the impending free agency of Tee Higgins.

“Those discussions are ongoing,” Burrow told reporters, per ESPN’s Ben Baby. “I’m confident that I think we’re going to do what it takes to bring Tee back.”

Burrow added: “I know that I’m going to do what it takes to get him back and so is he. We’ve had those talks. Those are going to be offseason discussions. But I think we’re excited about that opportunity.”

Well, that’s not great news for the New England Patriots.

Higgins re-signing on a long-term deal with the Bengals could completely shift New England’s plans.

The Patriots have been heavily linked to Higgins dating back to last offseason before the wideout signed to play on the franchise tag. Nothing has changed in that regard either. The Athletic’s Chad Graff wrote Monday how he expects the Patriots to be all in on Higgins and “offer him the moon.”

The 25-year-old Higgins is viewed as not only the top wideout scheduled to hit the market, but the one that makes the most sense for the Patriots. His age, skillset and production — he entered 2024 with two 1,000-yard seasons — are why he’s viewed as the perfect pass-catcher for Patriots quarterback Drake Maye.

But it seems Burrow will do whatever it takes to prevent Higgins from catching passes from someone like Maye.
