On December 3, 2024, the delegation of the National Government appointed to the Socio-Legal Conversation Space of Quibdó (_Quibdó ECSJ-Paz Urbana_) issued a public communique outlining their approach to engaging with the organized armed criminal group known as “Los Z.” The delegation stated that the Presidency of the Republic has authorized initial conversations to verify the willingness for peace with “Los Z,” “Cabi,” and the Gaitanista Self-Defense Forces of Colombia (EGC). The goal of the conversation is to pursue future agreements within the framework of the law that can help avoid further loss of life and protect the interests of the Quibdó community. The delegation expressed that they have received recent communications from “Los Z” expressing their commitment to advancing peace in the territory, which they welcome constructively. They are working to establish a conversation route that can bring relief to the community. The delegation also emphasized safeguarding the lives and interests of the community and public and private organizations serving the Quibdó population. Lastly, they made an urgent call to “Los Z” to avoid any actions threatening the community, as the main objective is to consolidate peace and trust in these spaces.
