Israel stepped up its attacks on military sites in Syria, hitting hundreds of targets, from airfields to weapons production sites, and sending troops deeper into the country.
The offensive targeted warehouses and weapons depots in several parts of Syria including the capital Damascus, according to the U.K.-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
Within 48 hours, Israel struck most of the strategic weapons stockpiles in Syria to prevent them from falling into the hands of terrorists, the Israel Defense Forces said Tuesday evening. Targets included two navy facilities, air force airfields and dozens of weapons production sites, as well as naval vessels and anti-aircraft batteries. Numerous strategic weapons were neutralized, including Scud missiles, cruise missiles and other types of missiles; drones, fighter jets, attack helicopters, radars and tanks, the military said.
