Green Bay Packers: Brett Favre Gets Torched in Viral Video Clip from Upcoming Documentary

Former Green Bay Packers quarterback and Pro Football Hall of Famer Brett Favre has been at the center of controversy for quite a while. Recently, his alleged involvement in the Mississippi Welfare Scandal has caused many fans to abandon their admiration for him even though he has not been indicted for any crime.

Of course, controversy is nothing new to Favre. Throughout his playing career, during his days with the Packers, he made headlines for questionable decisions as well.

One of these events occurred during the last game of the 2001 season when the Packers were playing the New York Giants.

Former Green Bay Packers Quarterback Brett Favre Slid in Front of Michael Strahan to Give Him the NFL Single-Season Sack Record

The Packers entered the final game of the 2001 season 11-4 while the Giants were 7-8. Green Bay had already clinched spot in the NFL Playoffs while New York was not playing for much more, as a team, than pride.

One Giants player, however, was looking to make some history.

Now Hall of Fame pass rusher Michael Strahan entered the game with 21.5 sacks, just 0.5 sacks away from tying the single-season record set by former New York Jets defensive lineman Mark Gastineau.

Green Bay’s offensive line kept Favre clean for the majority of the game. However, with about three minutes left in the fourth quarter, and the Packers leading 34-25, Favre took the snapped, rolled out to his right, and slid down in front of Strahan. The Giants’ defensive end was credited with a sack, giving him the single season record of 22.5.

Mark Gastineau Confronts former Green Bay Packers Quarterback Brett Favre in Viral Documentary Video Clip

There is an upcoming ESPN 30 for 30 Documentary coming out entitled “The New York Sack Exchange,” which will air on ESPN+ on December 13.

In a video clip that has now gone viral from the documentary, Gastineau got in Favre’s face during a signing event accusing the Hall of Fame quarterback from stealing the record from him:

22 years after losing the NFL single-season sack record, Mark Gastineau confronted Brett Favre for ‘taking a dive’ on the record-breaking play.

“I’m going to get my sack back. I’m going to get my sack back, dude,” Gastineau said to Favre.

In response, Favre said, “You’d probably hurt me.”

“Well I don’t care!” Gastineau snapped back. “You hurt me. You hurt me. You hear me? You really hurt me. You really hurt me, Brett.”

The full clip can be viewed in the X post above and the entire documentary will be available for streaming on ESPN+ this Friday.
