Everyone Was Making The Same Joke About Kadarius Toney On Tuesday

In both of the previous two seasons, wide receiver Kadarius Toney was a member of the Kansas City Chiefs, and he got himself two Super Bowl championship rings while playing with Patrick Mahomes and crew.

The Chiefs released Toney late this summer, and he has shuffled back and forth between the practice squad and active roster of the Cleveland Browns this season.

On Tuesday, per Adam Schefter, the Browns released Toney, who doesn’t have a single reception and has been targeted just once in three games this year.

Browns waived WR Kadarius Toney.

Fans on X (formerly known as Twitter) are all citing the same reason for this roster move: Toney’s inability to make catches.

Can’t keep dropping balls.

Really let that opportunity slip through his hands

I’d ask if he waived back but he probably dropped that also

Last season, dropped passes were a big problem for the Chiefs during the regular season, and Toney, who caught 27 of 38 passes that targeted him, was a major culprit.

He missed the last three games of the regular season and all of the playoffs due to injury, and he created a stir when he claimed during an Instagram live that he wasn’t actually injured.

In Super Bowl LVII, he had one reception during the fourth quarter for the touchdown that put them ahead for the first time in the game.

He also had a 65-yard punt return in that fourth quarter, which set a Super Bowl record.

It remains to be seen how much interest there will be in him on the market as the NFL season starts to wind down.
