The saying goes that your bye always comes at a good time, and that feels true. No matter when it falls during the season, your team can always use a little rest and recovery time. Injuries, fatigue, and the general attrition of a season of NFL football are always going to be taking their toll, and rest is the only counter to those factors.
If that’s true of a normal bye, I’d have to imagine the same is true of the mini-vacation that comes after a Thursday Night Football game. The Packers didn’t get the benefit of that rest after their Thanksgiving win over the Dolphins, but the Lions’ game was a traditional Thursday night affair.
But now, the Packers are rested and ready for their final four games of the season. There seems to be a limit on how high they can climb this year, but as we’ve seen with Packers teams in the past — even as little as a year ago — it’s not about where you’re seeded, it’s about who you play when you’re there.
If the Packers finish strong and play to their potential, there’s no telling how far they could go.
