Thomas Brown’s head coaching debut did not go as planned on Sunday in San Francisco. The loss wasn’t surprising because, despite their record, the 49ers are a very good team; it was how the Chicago Bears opened the game so uninspired.
The Bears are (4-9) with four more tough games to go, and even though they were flat in San Francisco, this team did hang with their division foes for three straight before that. Those games showed the fight the players had, so which team would show up down the stretch?
Are they just going through the motions to get to the end of this exhausting season, or will they rally around their interim head coach and relish in their role of spoiler?
Here’s how the Bears close out the season.
That’s four teams currently in the NFC playoffs, and all with something to play for. The Vikings are trying to catch the Lions. The Lions are trying to lock up the number one seed. The Seahawks are trying to win the NFC West. And they close with the Packers, who could be trying to hang on to a wildcard spot.
The Bears could impact NFC seedings down the stretch or, in the case of their last two games, knock them out completely.
Even though the Bears don’t have the postseason to play for, they’ll likely rebound from last week’s pitiful performance, but will they bounce back enough to pull off any upsets?
What do you think Chicago’s record will be down the stretch, and how confident are you in the long-term direction of the franchise, knowing there’ll be new leadership on the sideline in 2025?
