The officials and video assistant referee have been confirmed ahead of Arsenal’s Champions League clash.

Arsenal will return to Champions League action on Wednesday for their sixth match in this new system. Their opponents Monaco are level on points with the Gunners in the close battle for a top eight finish.

As things stand, seven different clubs are tied on 10 points each, spanning from sixth-place Bayer Leverkusen, all the way down to Lille in 12th. This next lot of fixtures could seriously shake up the order of the Champions League table, especially as we approach the final lot of fixtures prior to the knockout rounds.

In order to bank automatic qualification into the round of 16, Arsenal must finish inside the top eight. Those who finish between ninth and 24th will enter the play-off stage to decide the final sides going through to the next round. So far, Arsenal have won three, drawn one and lost one of their five games played.

Mikel Arteta’s side will be eager to pick up maximum points against Monaco after being denied a huge chance to close the gap on Liverpool in this turbulent Premier League title race. The Reds have a game in-hand after their clash with Everton was postponed due to the impact of Storm Darragh on Merseyside.

However, Arsenal couldn’t capitalise on the chance to reduce their deficit to just four points after having a goal ruled out against Fulham, forcing them to settle for a 1-1 draw. Meanwhile, Chelsea’s thrilling 4-3 win over Tottenham Hotspur means the Blues are now second, with Arsenal slipping into third ahead of this weekend.

Liverpool have also been dominating in the Champions League. They remain the only side in the tournament yet to drop a single point, and they have conceded just one goal in their five games so far.

Arsenal’s last European outing saw them produce a stunning 5-1 win over Sporting CP but prior to that, they were edged out 1-0 by Inter.

The Gunners will look to pull away from Monaco with a much-needed three points on Wednesday. Ahead of the clash, the officials for the match have been announced, with Italian referee Davide Massa taking charge of the occasion.

He will be supported by assistants Filippo Meli and Stefano Alassio, as well as fourth official Daniele Doveri. The video assistant referee for the match will be Daniele Chiffi, alongside his assistant Aleandro Di Paolo in an all-Italian roster.

Massa has mainly officiated Serie A fixtures this year, but he last took charge of a Champions League match last month when Bayern Munich hosted Benfica. The game ended 1-0 to the hosts and three yellow cards were shown.
