Liverpool is flying in both the Premier League and the Champions League at the moment with Arne Slot's side top of the table in each case.
But getting a new face in the building in January could offer another boost to the Reds' chances of silverware. Holding midfield remains a likely priority after the failed pursuit of Martin Zubimendi in the summer. If he - or someone else of a similar level - is available in the winter, that should be something Liverpool goes for. Ryan Gravenberch has been great but he can't play every minute of every game.
Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds today. No number six is being linked but there are claims about a couple of wonderkids.
Joel Ordonez (Club Brugge)
According to the Belgian outlet Het Laatste Nieuws, Liverpool could be set to battle with Chelsea to sign the 20-year-old Club Brugge center-back Joel Ordonez in January after being impressed by his performances in the last couple of seasons. He previously played for the prolific talent factory Independiente della Valle in his native Ecuador before moving to European soccer in 2022.

While Liverpool is short of options at the back at the moment with Ibrahima Konate, Conor Bradley and Kostas Tsimikas all sidelined, Arne Slot would not be able to guarantee first-team action. Ordonez has made it clear in the past that he would like to play in the Premier League one day but he might best staying where he is for now.
Liverpool.com says: Getting another body in during the winter window would be a boost, but it makes more sense to sign a more experienced player and a central midfielder. That would make a bigger impact for Slot, in all likelihood.
Lennon Miller (Motherwell)
Liverpool is ready to step up its pursuit of Motherwell wonderkid and Scotland U21 international Lennon Miller in January, according to Caught Offside. Amid interest from Newcastle, Brighton and Southampton, the Reds are supposedly preparing a $10.8 million (£8.2m/€10.0m) offer for the midfielder.
The 18-year-old talent is hot property but he would be far down the pecking order if he moved to Anfield. If Liverpool was really keen to snap him up, he would likely come in and then immediately head out on loan.
Liverpool.com says: Signing an 18-year-old isn't really a priority for Liverpool at the moment. The Reds have the likes of Trey Nyoni and Rio Ngumoha coming through the academy ranks and signing players before their price tag increases has tended to be the plan in recent years, as was the case with those two and fellow Scotland talent Ben Doak.
