Wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase‘s future with the Cincinnati Bengals remains in limbo after this season after his contract with the team expires. For his part, he still believes that staying with Tee Higgins and the Joe Burrow-led team is still possible.
Following a thrilling victory over the Dallas Cowboys, the future of Higgins has become a hot topic among fans and analysts. With Higgins in the final year of his contract and set to enter free agency, there is a growing concern about whether he will remain with the team. His impressive performances alongside Chase have been pivotal to Cincinnati’s offensive success, making the prospect of losing him especially daunting.

Chase, who has emerged as one of the league’s top receivers, is enjoying a stellar season and is likely to command a significant contract extension in the near future. With 93 catches, over 1,300 receiving yards, and 15 touchdowns this season, his ability to dominate on the field has solidified his status as an essential player. His chemistry with quarterback Joe Burrow has transformed the Bengals’ offense, and both players understand the importance of keeping their core intact.
Burrow has expressed a strong desire to keep Higgins in Cincinnati, indicating his commitment to doing whatever it takes to retain his talented teammate. This sentiment reflects the close-knit bond shared among the trio, which has played a significant role in their success. However, the financial implications of maintaining both players present a complex challenge for the team’s front office.

The wide receiver’s response to the question of staying in Cincinnati with Higgins has drawn various reactions from fans. These reactions can be seen in a post shared by Paul Dehner Jr. on X.
Chase on if it is possible to keep him and Higgins fully paid together with Burrow: “It’s 100 percent possible. Got to play chess in that situation, but it’s possible.” Dehner tweeted.
“So basically what he’s saying is that the front office isn’t willing to do it😂,” ptay08 said.
“37 million to chase. 30 million to Higgins. Would have essentially 120+ million tied up in 3 players or 45% of the teams cap on just 3 players. Yikes,” The Great Cornholio posted.
“It should already be done. Chase should already be done. Trey should be done. Bates should have been done. Maybe Joe has the sway to get them to change but I’ll believe it when I see it,” Tom Huddleston shared.
“Sure…. That defense will get even worse. Have fun with that. Receiving records every year for a 6 win team,” Sparky throws reacted.
“QUIT GIVING ME HOPE,” Zach Scheper tweeted.
“Would have been helpful if Duke, Katie et al and not stepped on a rake with signing Chase,” Chris Post mentioned.
“Do people not see what’s right in front of all of our faces?? Their problem is not WR2. It’s the defense, it’s the O line, it’s an underperforming coaching staff with the likes of Pollack, Simmons and Taylor. My gosh, how easily distracted everyone gets. Root cause, people,” Scott Stolze explained.
Higgins, for his part, has not ruled out a return to Cincinnati, even as he prepares for a lucrative free agency period. His connection to the city and the team has been evident, but he also recognizes the realities of NFL contracts and market dynamics.
